Another question for you 1300 owners.
Not sure if I am using the correct word to describe this but the 2006 VTX 1300S project bike I bought has a whirling sound at the end of an RPM rev drop. This is with the clutch in or out and in neutral. The oil I just put in is Shell's T-4 15-40 with new filter. 11,230 miles on the clock. Also while riding it makes a whirling or wining noise in all gears not real loud but noticeable. Checked the oil level good, checked the wheel bearings F/R good. I do not have a air filter installed yet just to mention.
I used a stethoscope to listen in for were the noise is coming from and it seems it is mostly louder at the front of the engine around the flywheel/starter clutch cover. If I put the end of the scope right at the front cover of the flywheel/starter on the front mounting screw it sounds very loud.
Should I be focusing in on maybe opening it up and taking a look and what would I be looking for?
Not sure if it is a norm but my VT750 is dead quite when running but I am aware this is a different beast so I am open to suggestions.
Cheers
