The temperature got into the 70's on Jan. 29 so I decided to go for a ride. When I uncovered the bike I discovered the glazing was coming off of my Hondaline windshield. The shield is made by National Cycle and even has their Logo stamped into the Lexan. So during the ride I stopped by the Honda dealership to have them order a replacement shield. The parts man called Honda to order a replacement and was told Honda/National Cycle does not make a replacement shield. Therefore, I would have to order a whole new windshield including the brackets, chrome and hardware for nearly $500.00. Why would I want to do that if there was a possibility that this was going to happen again? Their reason was that it was a safety issue, came all in one unit and could not be replaced. I found that quite interesting because it is all bolted together. Honda also told me they had never had any ploblems that required the replacement of the Lexan shields. So are they telling me, even though my glazing is coming off, that rocks and road trash never scratched, chipped or broke one of their shields?
Not being one to let it drop I called J & P Cycles to see if they could order a shield for me from National Cycle. The salesman knew right off that others had needed replacements but knew Honda/National Cycle did not provide a replacement. He told me Clear View Shields in Colorado made replacements. www.clearviewshields.com I have my shield ordered and wanted to share this information with other bikers who may have a simular Hondaline windshield problem. These people are great to work with, very knowledgeable and helpful.
I don't understand Honda's position on this matter. Another case of Honda not giving a crap about the customer after the sale is made.:nono:
